Prayer Requests as Julia's birthday approaches!

I was emailing my friend back and forth today and she sent me this document of prayer requests she had received from another friend about the birth of their upcoming child. I thought this was a great idea and decided to put together a list as well that would suit the needs of Andrew and I as we get ready for the big day!

If you think of it please join us in prayer:

Prayer Requests for Birth:

For the Spirit of God—specifically his spirit of peace, trust and joy—to dwell completely and tangibly in each of our hearts during the delivery.
·      Pray that there would be no complications during the birth.

·      That our doctor (Dr. Elizabeth Johnson) will be able to delivery our baby. Please pray for great wisdom and insight for her and the rest of the hospital staff as they guide the birth. Pray that the Lord would alert them to any health issues Julia and I may have.

·      For Julia’s health during the delivery: that she will be relaxed, healthy and safe.

·      Pray that Julia would stay in the right position (head down and anterior—not posterior, which would cause lots of back labor).

·      For my health during labor: that my body would work as God designed it to and I would have no health complications.

·      Pray that my labor would begin and progress naturally.

·      For my muscles and mind: pray that I could relax and let go with each contraction during labor.

·      For the pushing stage: Pray that I would listen to Andrew as my coach, the doctor, and nurses and I would be able to hold back when I need to.

·      For my wonderful husband, Andrew: pray that he will have the patience, stamina and strength to help me relax through the contractions.
Post-Birth:

  • ·      Please pray for tons of patience and strength for Andrew in the days and weeks after the birth as he assists in my recovery.

  • ·      Pray that God would give us (especially me) tons of wisdom and peace in learning how to adjust to having a baby around the house.

  • ·      Pray for the protection of our marriage during this period of adjustment: that we would continue to remain strongly united and that we’d have a servant’s heart toward each other.

  • ·      Pray for a quick and speedy recovery for me, and that we could quickly find a routine and establish a sense of normalcy.

  • ·       For breastfeeding—that Julia and I would get the hang of it quickly and easily and that there wouldn’t be any major issues.
