Last week Julia celebrated her one month birthday! It is so hard to believe how quickly time has been flying by. In just the few short weeks that we have gotten to know her, we have fallen more in love than we ever thought possible! We have been learning a ton about Julia and her sweet quirks. Last week we had her one month appointment at her pediatricians office and we were so blessed by the way God has been growing this little girl since she has been here with us. Here are a few interesting facts that we have learned and want to remember about this last month with Julia
Weight: 8 lbs 14 ounces
Length: 21 inches
Head: 35.5
Feeding: Julia, you start with whatever breast milk I am able to provide for you and then you always get 2 ounces of formula. On average you eat about 3-4 ounces of formula each feeding. We feed you every three hours during the day. Your last feeding at night is 9 (well sometimes closer to 10 if we are out and about) and then we let you sleep until you wake up hungry again. Since you are doing so well on your feedings we are eventually hoping to move up your ounces to about 5 ounces at night....probably something we will do when you are closer to 2 months old though. You are not very picky about your bottle. Here in a week or two you will be moving to straight formula....right now you are enjoying Enfamil Newborn formula (which is the same kind your mom had when she was a baby).
Sleeping: You are quite the sleepy girl at times....when we first got you home from the hospital it took us several minutes to wake you up to feed (and by several minutes I mean 20-30 minutes). Don't worry you get that from your mom and dad as well- we are all deep sleepers. Since we got you on a feeding routine and you are eating well you have been sleeping very well. We are reminded every day just how blessed we are to have a girl that sleeps so well. Since you are still a newborn, you sleep a lot during the day...on average you will take a nap between each of your feedings. At night you have been spoiling your parents since you were just a week old with falling asleep around 10:30 pm and not waking up until 4:45-6:30....but don't worry you do have your occasional 3:00am feedings.
Schedule: You have a pretty simple routine that we like to stick to... You eat, have an activity (sometimes this just means burping and a diaper change), and then you sleep until it is time to eat again.
Activity Favorites: You simply ADORE your swing! You love swinging and watching the light show that it has. Any light throughout the house seems to captivate your eyes; however, you are particularly fond of kitchen light (which I hope this means you will enjoy helping me out in the kitchen one day when you are a bit older). Singing and dancing with mom throughout the house is another activity you are enjoying when we are home alone. You also love playing with your ball. Tummy time is something your really enjoy as well....Your dad and I love playing with you on your activity mat and seeing your eyes get bigger as you look at the mirror it has.
Funny Quirks: You prefer to have projectile spit up and blow out diapers when your dad is home and holding you. He doesn't mind too much...but it does make us laugh. You love discovering your thumb...and while we aren't too fond of the thumb sucking idea it is so fun to watch you find your thumb. You also have a deep love with your bath time (we try to do this every other day)....When you are in the water you throw your legs over the swing in the tub and get extra comfortable in the warm soapy water....this is the cutest thing to watch. And finally, you know exactly when dad wakes up and as he gets up for work you start stirring in your crib to make sure he comes to see you before he leaves for work.
