Baby, Baby, Baby, Ohhhh

It seems so weird to me that I am 19 weeks pregnant! Only 21 more weeks left! So here are some of my rememberings thus far...

I knew time would go by quickly so I have tried to enjoy every moment possible thus far. It has been easy for me to enjoy my pregnancy thus far because of how easy I feel it has been. For the majority of women the first trimester of pregnancy is the hardest. Body changes, mood swings, morning sickness, exhaustion, ect. Praise be to God that my first trimester was not full of morning sickness and quick runs to the bathroom! To say I was constantly tired would be quite an understatement, I was exhausted all the time. But I can honestly say that sickness was not my biggest complaint. Every once in a while I wouldn't feel good, but for the most part I felt like normal Carrie.

Mood swings....There was a few weeks between my first and second trimester that I would feel like I was having these out of body experiences. I would be so passionately excited about something one minute and then passionately angry about another the next. And I specifically remember crying to a dozen different country songs all in one day as I was driving around and doing errands. I'm pretty sure that made Andrew giggle to himself....his sweet pregnant wife would cry over the smallest things and he knew it was just because of the hormones going through my body at the time. However, I was always so embarrassed afterwards because I am not one to cry for no particular reason....God has humbled me in this area for sure. He has shown me that He has complete control over what goes on in my body even when I have no idea.

Food cravings.... I have always heard of women having these "strange" cravings during pregnancy and I honestly don't think I have had anything out of the ordinary. However there are times when something sounds SOOO good that I can almost taste it in my mouth and it won't go away until I am able to eat it. So now that you know my definition of food cravings here are a few things I have been wanting.... White cake with cookies and cream filling from Shelby Lynn's in Springdale AR with butter cream frosting on top (unfortunately this craving has never been met- I have already checked to see if they would ship cakes:). Sliced apples with peanut butter- however 100 times better if it is almond butter (thanks Mom). This has been an interesting craving because I seriously can't stand peanut butter...I hate hate hate peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, but you put some apples with it and I am one content lady! Fruit, yogurt and granola is a staple for me in the mornings...YUMS! Brats and sauerkraut! This makes Andrew laugh because I HATE hotdogs and always have, but for whatever reason this baby is making me a lover of the All American food right now. And most recently...rootbeer floats! Because I am still trying my very hardest to stay away from Diet Coke- which is a daily struggle- Diet Root Beer has been a wonderful substitute! It has 0 calories and tastes just as good as regular. And then when you add ice cream it is like a small piece of heaven on a sunny day. :)

Just recently I feel like I have begun to feel the baby move around and feel different kicks and flutters. It always catches me off guard when it happens...I always stay really still for about 5 minutes after it has happened in hopes that I will catch it again! Andrew hasn't been able to feel anything yet, but I know that that time will come soon and it will be a great experience! And while I still look in the mirror and wonder if I truly look pregnant or just gained extra tummy weight I am pretty sure this belly is getting more and more defined every day. I am going on a hunt for maternity clothes tomorrow with my friend Kristie. Most of my dresses fit really well and I still have room to grow in them, but shirts and shorts are becoming an issue right now. So part of me is really excited to start finding cute maternity clothes!

So far my pregnancy has gone really well and I am continually thanking God for this blessing. We have not had an ultrasound yet because the doctor has been so pleased with the baby's growth and heart rate thus far, so next week (in 6 days actually) Andrew and I will get to see the baby for the very first time! We are so excited!!!!! Lord willing, we will be able to find out if we are having a baby girl or baby boy as well! His/Her heart rate has been very strong thus far....the first time we heard it it was in the 170s and the second time it was in the 160s. The baby heart beat is music to my ears...I am always on cloud 9 after I hear it! I can't imagine what it will be like after we get to see the baby! Woohoo!

I believe I took 3 or 4 pregnancy tests just to make sure I was actually pregnant :)
