4th of July Fun!

After a week of being apart because of Andrew's first FEX at TBS, Andrew and I finally got to spend our FIRST fourth of July together as husband and wife! This time last year Andrew was in Peru training with his unit out of Kansas City, so we knew that this year we'd get to experience one more "first" in our marriage! We had a great weekend with one another- have I mentioned how much we treasure those weekends together with our hectic TBS weekday schedule? Friday night Andrew got home from his FEX and I fixed him homemade lasagna (a first for me) and we watched a movie.

Saturday Andrew wanted to go to the Farmers Market in Fredericksburg! So glad we did! We got some yummy jams and jelly and some great interaction with the people of Fredericksburg. That afternoon we decided to wander over to the "Battle of Fredericksburg" area. Andrew knows so much about history, it is one of the things that I love about him! Not that I really love history, but I do love that my husband loves to teach it to me and for that I am so grateful! So Andrew took me around the battlefield and we got to see a lot- hoping to go back one weekend and see more! Saturday evening we went to "An American Event" with our friends Lauren and James Kresge. We went for two reasons...BIG FIREWORKS AND SNOWCONES! And we were NOT disappointed at all! We had a great time with the Kresge's! What a blessing it is to have friends that you get to share memories with!

After church on Sunday we ventured out to Alexandria, VA. Wow! What a beautiful place! Andrew and I really loved walking around Old Towne! There was so much to enjoy and TONS of fun restaurants! When friends and family come to visit we hope to take them there! We went to an art exhibit called The Torpedo Factory and found that we were not the first Razorback fans to visit that day! I must say that I have never seen Andrew as excited as he gets when he spots a Razorback fan in our outings! One of the neat things I liked about Alexandria was how the city is so close to the water. Andrew and I were able to sit down and watch the boats come in...I felt as if we were on vacation! I never thought we would live somewhere that sailboats out on the water were a part of every day life!

On Monday, Andrew and I had several decisions to make with where we will be going in the USMC. It was a fun day of dreaming about what jobs Andrew would like to do most and where we would enjoy living. I can not believe that we will soon hear what this will be! We wrapped up our Fourth of July weekend at a few of our church friends house and then watching a "American" movie- The Patriot! I had never seen it so Andrew was determined to get me to watch it! :) All in all, we had a wonderful weekend together and wouldn't trade it for the world!
