29 week pregnancy update
Well...I have officially made it to my third trimester! Today I celebrate my 29th week of being pregnant....only 11 more weeks to go! She is about the size of a butternut squash right now. I had my 28 week doctors appointment last week. I had my glucose testing and "passed it with flying colors" according to my nurser. The blood work did discover that my vitamin D levels are still low (but not as low as they were originally) so I'm taking some more vitamin D supplements every day and my Iron levels were beginning to look low, so I am also taking an Iron supplement everyday. My doctor said that she is ready to start seeing me every 2 weeks since I'm now in my 3rd trimester. So far everything continues to go well for Julia and I. She is continuing to be quite the active little one which is fun to feel! Yesterday while laying in bed talking Julia wanted to make sure that Andrew knew she was with us and so she started kicking and moving to catch his attention. It was a fun experience and we got some good laughs from it.
I have gained 13 pounds so far throughout the pregnancy....which isn't all that fun but that is surely what happens as you grow another human being :). My exercise routine has had to change a bit but I'm still able to do quite a lot. Lately I have been doing some water aerobics, swimming, walking, bike riding, and some light weight lifting. It has been a blessing to be in the water for sure! With the "summer" upon us in California, I have loved being in the pool....it is amazing how freeing it feels to not be hot. I'm trying to be very aware of what I am eating as well....which can bring about some challenges for sure! Especially when it is hot outside (or maybe its just me feeling hot all the time) and the thought of frozen yogurt, popsicles, or ice cream always bring some yummy relief! But I'm still enjoying my cold water and for my "salty" cravings pretzels always do the trick for a little snack.
I have been experiencing slight swelling in my hands and feet the last week. However this always happens when I'm moving around exercising and (thankfully) doesn't last too long. My doctor said with it getting hotter outside this is perfectly normal. However, to be on the safe side I try not to wear my rings all the time....I think one of my fears is to get them stuck on my fingers and have to have them cut off of me....unlikely it will happen but I'd rather be safe than sorry!
We are continuing to work on Julia's room. Mom and dad helped us out a ton while they were here. The hard thing right now is waiting for my furniture to come in. I found a chair and ottoman set from Burlington Coat Factory that is being ordered and then our bachelors chest we will use for storage and a changing table is ordered. Both of these pieces should take any where between 6-10 weeks to get in. Which means EVERYTHING needs to be set up in the room before they get here so that those will be the last things to put into the room. I'm really hoping that it won't take that long to come in, I'm just so anxious to have the room finished and put together. We have started to receive some wonderful gifts for Julia. Our stroller/car seat travel system is put together and ready for Julia. My Mamma sent us a sound machine that is near the crib ready to be used and a wonderful swing that is set up in our sitting area! The pack n play is up and currently in the nursery, but this will change as the nursery fills up and it will either go in our room or the living room/sitting room. Dottie mailed us some beautiful dresses for Julia that she made for her. It has been SO fun having baby things throughout the house. We love the constant material reminder of her arrival date quickly approaching. Mentally, I am feeling the pressure to buy lots of stuff so that we are prepared and ready to go. I'll take some pictures of the nursery in a few weeks and get those posted and ready to look at.
Time is as always flying by and will continue to do so before Julia arrives. We have gotten signed up for several baby classes that will take up a lot of time over the last couple months of the pregnancy which will be fun. BSF is starting up here in a few weeks and work is busy as always for Andrew. We had a wonderful time having Mom, Dad, and Erin visit with us. I will post blogs on their visit as the week goes on, but in the mean time I'm going to get some house work done before it gets too hot outside and the pool calls out to me to take a swim :).
