Life in the Brown Household

As we said good bye to all our sweet friends and family that came to visit the month of August and began to settle back into our routines, life has become very sweet. As I have mentioned several times, Andrew and I are really trying to enjoy our time together one on one before we become a family of three. God has been gracious to give us time with one another. We know it won't always be like this so we are soaking it up and enjoying every sweet moment possible! Andrew's work schedule has been a bit different as of late, but neither of us are complaining by any means! In fact with the extra day off from Labor day and several days of getting off a wee bit earlier than normal we feel incredibly spoiled!

Of course there are always things that make life a little more interesting for us! :) So as we enjoy our time together we have been fighting off lizards and ants in our house as well! Within a week span (actually a long weekend span) we have been killing off ants like nobody's business! One of my favorite conversations with Andrew about getting rid of ants was when he helped me to understand the spiritual side of these little pests. He has been reading about creation and God's role of man at the beginning of creation to "be over the birds of the air and fish of the sea" (pretty much being over all creation). He said "Carrie, the way I look at it this is just part of man being over animal/pest creatures as God intended. Sometimes we just have to redirect them when they are somewhere they are not suppose to be." Unfortunately for our army of ants this meant killing them off to get them out of our house. But for our 2 lizard friends that we found in our house they got away a without being harmed. Andrew graciously caught one and threw it outside. And I (being of course a bit more dramatic) cornered one into a cup (b/c heaven forbid I touch the thing with my own hands) and threw it as far into the front yard as possible. (and screams and nasty faces were made in the process- trust me I'm not that graceful with the outdoors)  I'm just grateful they were ants and lizards rather than roaches and snakes!

The nursery is still coming together. We are waiting for one more piece of furniture and then I will feel like I can get everything in its place. With less than 9 weeks left until my due date I can honestly say I am feeling a bit overwhelmed with the house. Not that I want everything to be "perfect" but that I cannot stand the sight of clutter anymore. I'm guessing this is part of what pregnant women call "nesting." I'm not so sure but it has sent me into cleaning sprees like crazy! (Even typing this out I'm getting anxious to get "to do" lists set in place and marked off)

Pregnancy wise I'm still doing really well. My fingers have started swelling a little bit- my nurse tells me this is to be expected when the weather is hot- so my rings have been off more than they have been on....which makes me feel naked every time I walk out of the house. My workout routines are beginning to be a bit more of a challenge. I'm not sure if my motivation is just running low b/c it is so much harder to do just the simplest of workouts or what, but I am ready to not be as limited in my routine as I have been since being pregnant. However, I have been doing water aerobics which has been so much fun and a wonderful break from being in the hot weather. (Not to mention it is heavenly to be in the water and feel weightless for a bit)

Needless to say, things are picking back up again in the Brown Household...I am thankful for our much needed time with one another and a slower week but I know it is preparing us for the crazy schedules that are coming our way! Between work, BSF, house de-cluttering, nursery preps, church, baby classes, ect we have an incredibly BUSY fall upon us...one that will end with us bringing a sweet baby girl home! Woohoo! 61 days left until Due Date is here!
