30 Day Challenge- Thankfulness

I have seen a lot of friends that have been posting on their blogs/twitter/facebook accounts the things that they are thankful for. I don't always jump on these band wagons but I think that I'm going to jump on this Thankfulness one! For every day in November, I'm going to say one thing that I am thankful for. I'm really excited about doing this! First, I think it will help me to apply God's word in Philippians 4:8 "Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things." It will also help encourage me to pursue contentment in the Lord rather than in worldly things. As we approach the holiday season, I can get very caught up in what I "want," "need," or "don't have." This makes me loose focus on what God has given me every day. These things that I am thankful for may not be things of great significance, but they are still blessings and things that make me smile. So here it goes...

Day 1: The ability I have to spend time with Andrew before Logistics school starts. I am thankful that after a time of stress and long days away from one another we can spend uninterrupted time with one another.

Day 2: I am thankful for friends who randomly give me coupons that help me save money on trips to the grocery store. What a blessing it is! It reminds me of how God provides for our every need- physical and spiritual. It also makes me wonder exactly what He has in store and planned for me to use the grocery money that was saved for His kingdom and His glory.

Day 3: Today, I am thankful for the freedom we have in Christ. That we are not bound to the yolk of slavery or the burden of our sin, but are bought with the precious blood of Christ and find freedom in His salvation.
Acts 15: 7-10 "And after there had been much debate, Peter stood up and said to them 'Brothers, you know that in the early days God made a choice among you, that by my mouth the Gentiles should hear the word of the gospel and believe. And God, who knows the heart, bore witness to them, by giving them the Holy Spirit just as he did to us, and he made no distinction between us and them, having cleansed their hearts by faith. Now, therefore, why are you putting God to the test by placing a yoke on the neck of the disciples that neither our fathers nor we have been able to bear? But we believe that we will be saved through the grace of the Lord Jesus, just as they will'."
